We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of space-bound hardware prototypes and products developed within the company.
As our Mechanical Engineer, you will:
Lead the design, prototyping, fabrication/manufacturing, and validation of mechanical components and assemblies across one or more spacecraft projects.
Prepare and support hardware for launch and operation primarily in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
Lead hardware development from concept through flight readiness, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability within timeline, scope, and budgetary considerations.
Conduct FEA or similar analysis using ANSYS or similar software.
Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, and systems engineers to integrate mechanical designs with complex, multidisciplinary systems.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical direction, design reviews, and process improvements where needed.
Prototype hardware with in-house manufacturing equipment, such as CNC mills/lathes and 3D printers.
Draft technical documentation and reports for technical and non-technical audiences.
Provide support with drafting government and commercial proposal documents.
Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Ability to legally work in the United States and the state of Michigan.
Ability to legally work on ITAR/EAR restricted technologies within the United States.
Available to relocate to Marquette, Michigan within 3 months of starting employment.
Available for regular, full-time employment Monday through Friday.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.
5+ years of experience in industry preferred
